Again, it's been a little while since we've been updating. Here are some photos & such from a couple weekends ago. (Josh's photos to come soon)
Please leave a comment if our videos are not working for you. I click it over & over & finally it will play. I don't understand why it's not working properly but I'll keep trying to figure out why.
These cupcakes I made myself & brought into work for everyone for a Valentine's Day treat.
They're (vegan) red velvet with (not so vegan) cream cheese icing.
I went to a cake decorating class, Feb 19th, at the Whole Foods Culinary Center.
I didn't know what to write on it & I figured since it was for Josh & I, I'd address it to him!
The class was taught by the awesome Summer Pruett, owner of
Stardust Pastry.
Feb 21st 2009
The Senior Director of Admissions @ AiAUS transferred to AiPheonix.
Someone in his apartment building had a going away party in the Penthouse.
Here is a view from Jarad's (SDoA) apartment.
I would kill for that view every morning!
This is the view from the penthouse.
Jarad is to the left, handing out shots of Patron.
Cheers!
Josh & I hanging out on the couch.
After the party, Josh & I stopped at the Jack in the Box next to our apartment for some late night fries.
Drive Thru
It's hard to tell by this photo, but our apartment is between those two lights.
We can hear the drive thru people from our place. Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night & can hear people ordering food!
Feb 22nd
Josh & I didn't let our hang overs hold us back. We headed to Barton Creek Green Belt for a walk.
Somehow we found our way up the side of this mountain.
Tree tops.
Below is the stream bed, where supposedly water runs through at some point. You can walk in the stream bed (where the spiders roam) or on the trail running along it.
On top of the world!
Back down on the ground, taking a rest.
This was pretty scary.. watch out for the dirt & little rocks, one slip of the foot & you're going down!
Then we found some water so we followed it.
This is pointing back to the trail that we came from.
Josh wanted to walk across this. The picture that he tried doing it is too blurry to see.
A bunch of people rock climbing.
Feb. 23rd
We decided to go back to the same spot & go follow that stream some more. We stopped the day before because by the time we found it, we had already been out walking for a few hours.
Josh & his caves..
I don't even want to know what's back there! My biggest fear is always when I'm peaking in, if a ton of bats are going to come flying out or not. Unlikely, but possible, isn't it?
The smell of these flowers fill the air.
Inside of this cement structure is where the water was coming from. It took about a half hour to climb to the top.
I love Green Belt
Buy Local..
And the water was all orange!
Well, not the water, but whatever was growing in it.
Josh taking photos of the orange goo.
After we walked back down to the stream bed, we found a huge rock to sit on. When the weather's warm and the sun is shinning, there's a TON of spiders. While walking over the rocks, a ton of the coming running out of underneath. I always feel like they're crawling up my legs!
Can you find the spider?
(I'll give you a hint, it's at the bottom)
I was trying to zoom in down at them from the rock we were on. Josh & I sat on this rock for maybe 45 minutes watching the spiders roam about. This one below, I wasn't sure if it was a spider or not. So I threw a stone down toward it & the spider jumped at the stone! Josh & I watched him for a few minutes & a fly landed on the rock next to him. When the fly started to fly away, the spider lunged at the fly & caught him! Never saw anything like it in real life.
Super zoomed in, didn't want to go near that guy!
March 1st
This is the day we found out the engine to our van was dead. It was a pretty depressing day so we went out for a walk to get some beers to try & forget about our woes!
We went to
Uncle Billy's Brew&Que where they brew their own beer. We decided to get the 5 beer sampler & beer battered onion rings. Delicious!
All done & time to move on!
My buddy, Esteban, told me about the Kite Festival going on in Zilker Park. After our beers we took a stroll down that way. Along our walk..
I need to go canoeing here before we leave!
Unfortunately, we spent too much time trying to figure out the van situation that by the time we went out for our beers & got to the festival, it was just about done! There weren't nearly as much kites left as I had hoped for.
This is always nice..
I have been dying to take a trip on this little train that goes around the park! It's only $3 a ticket and they were about to take their last ride so we figured, why not?
Creepy..
Tried to snap a quick pic of the city on our way by.
That's the trail Josh & I were on when we first discovered the train.
Turning around..
Got one on the way back too.
Thank you for checking in!
xoxo,
Danielle
